Kom naar MENA Monday! Er is muziek, gemaakt door verschillende professionele MENA-muzikanten uit Groningen. Ook komen er andere MENA-kunstenaars hun werk vertonen, zoals schilders, schrijvers en dichters. Er zijn hapjes, drankjes, en veel ruimte om elkaar te ontmoeten en om samen te komen. Wees welkom!
MENA Monday Special: Norouz & Eid al-Fitr!
Maandag 31 maart is het weer tijd voor MENA Monday, met deze keer een bijzondere editie in het thema van twee belangrijke feestdagen. We vieren Norouz, het Perzisch Nieuwjaarsfeest, en Eid al-Fitr, ofwel het Suikerfeest! Daarom pakken we extra uit met een vol programma, en lekker eten uit de MENA-regio. Kom ook langs om meer te leren over deze feestdagen, laat henna zetten, en proef de smaken van de feestdagen uit de MENA-regio.
Hannahita
Hannahita is an electroacoustic improvisational music collaboration between Hannes and Anahita, initiated on September 14, 2014. As a newly formed group, we blend Modular synthesis, electroacoustic soundscapes, tribal rhythms, and the rich traditions of Classical and Persian music. Drawing inspiration from ancient melodies and modern electronic textures, we create immersive musical journeys that connect the past to the present. With a focus on storytelling and cultural exploration, our work transcends boundaries, offering audiences a unique experience that celebrates diversity, heritage, and innovation.
Arman Ameri
Arman is een specialist in het bespelen van meerdere traditionele instrumenten. Hij speelt tijdens de aankomende MENA Monday folkloristische muziek uit Iran.
Nagham Koor
Nagham Koor uit Groningen je mee op een muzikale reis naar het Midden-Oosten. Via Turkije, Iran, Syrië, Libanon en Palestina reizen we verder naar Tunesië en Soedan, om uiteindelijk weer in Nederland te belanden. Het maakt Voices from Nagham tot een veelzijdige en vrolijkmakende viering van diversiteit, waarin muzikale tradities op prachtige wijze samensmelten. Je hoort ook nummers in het Nederlands, voorzien van een verrassend nieuw arrangement.
Het Nagham Koor werd in 2023 opgericht door cultuurcoach /Coördinator activiteiten voor nieuwkomers Karam Shebat. Hoewel niet alle koorleden Nederlands spreken, delen ze allemaal dezelfde passie: de universele taal van de muziek. Met elke noot en elk lied vertellen ze hun eigen verhaal. Daarmee is Voices from Nagham een schoolvoorbeeld van hoe je op een warme, inclusieve wijze muzikale tradities samenbrengt. Want welke taal je ook spreekt, waar je roots ook liggen, als er iets is dat ons verbindt, is het wel muziek.

Come to MENA Monday! Enjoy music created by various professional MENA musicians from Groningen. Other MENA artists, such as painters, writers, and poets, wil also showcase their work. There will be snacks, drinks, and plenty of space to connect and come together.

Arman is a specialist in playing multiple traditional instruments. He will play folkloric music from Iran during the upcoming MENA Monday.
Nagham Choir
The Nagham Choir, led by Karam Shebat, will also be performing with a large number of singers during MENA Monday. Together they sing Arabic classics.
